Who’s Your One? Luke 5.27-32 Luke 5:27 After this, Jesus went out and saw a tax collector by the name of Levi sitting at his tax booth. “Follow me,” Jesus said to him, 28 and Levi got up, left everything and followed him. 29 Then Levi held a great banquet for Jesus at his house, and a large crowd of tax collectors and others were eating with them. 30 But the Pharisees and the teachers of the law who belonged to their sect complained to his disciples, “Why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?” 31 Jesus answered them, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. 32 I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.” Are we connecting with people who are not like us? Do you have someone you need to invite not just to church but to talk and meet with you about what Jesus has done for you? Can you even have a conversation like that? Luke 5.27 After this, Jesus went out and saw a tax collector by the name of Levi sitting at his tax booth. Jesus says, Follow Me. In other words, “How are you, Let’s go eat.” —Jesus came to change our mind about God Jesus wants a relationship with everyone. —Stay Close not Far Luke 5.29-30, 29 Then Levi held a great banquet for Jesus at his house, and a large crowd of tax collectors and others were eating with them. 30 But the Pharisees and the teachers of the law who belonged to their sect complained to his disciples, “Why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?” We are to be the influencer not the “influencee”. He did not approach him with his past…but offered him a better future. —Say start, not stop. 31 Jesus answered them, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. 32 I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.” We don’t fix them. Jesus will 1 Corinthians 15.10, But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me was not without effect. No, I worked harder than all of them—yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me. Jesus did well with Levi, HIS ONE. Grace is enough for anyone. Jesus already knows who our ONE is.
